Managing energy consumption and cost is typically a challenging task.  This all the more complicated for organizations that operate under a franchise business model, where the franchisor does not own the facilities, nor have operational or management control over the way energy is managed.

Despite the odds, LJ Hooker, an Australian based real-estate franchise, has implemented an industry leading energy and sustainably efficiency program that is delivering outstanding results.  The 3P’s Efficiency Program puts the spotlight on the three key areas franchisees should prioritize to save.  Power, Petrol & Paper are the focus, and Envizi plays an integral role as the tool to harness data about these three data types, transform it into a single system of record and generate insights for stakeholders.

LJ Hooker is a long-standing Envizi client and uses the platform to:

1) Monitor and report the energy and sustainability performance of its corporate offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane Adelaide, Perth and Auckland, and to

2) Support franchisees to capture energy and sustainability data for the purposes of reporting, to reduce cost and to drive efficiencies as part of the 3 P’s Efficiency Program

Envizi has provided both LJ Hooker corporate office and the franchise network with granular data on both their energy and sustainability data.  LJ Hooker franchisees have put this data and the insights generated to good use.   In the last year alone, one of their NSW franchises managed to deliver a cost reduction on their electricity bill of 38% over the previous year.

At a corporate level, LJ Hooker’s head office saw a seventeen per cent reduction in power use in the first year of the program, and an average five per cent decrease in power use across its state offices.  These sites continue to reduce costs with head office achieving a 7% saving this year.

Since being on the 3Ps Efficiency Program, LJ Hooker Ormeau in Queensland used data gathered from Envizi to identify opportunities to save 36% on power.  This was largely achieved by making small changes around the office including routines where everything was switched off at night, including lights, computers and air-conditioning. They also turned down their hot water system and installed remote controls to switch off all power points at night.  Read more here.

LJ Hooker Mosman/Neutral Bay, used data from Envizi to feed into a detailed energy audit which identified energy savings opportunities.  The franchise implemented the recommendations and achieved a 19% saving on their energy bill in one year.
